Christmas in Gargnano is dressed in surprises in a unique atmosphere celebrating traditions, flavours and creativity.
In the enchanted setting of the Cloister of San Francesco, the Mercato delle Qualità (Market of Qualities) displays a riot of local food products and many handicraft gems for authentic gift ideas; while little chefs put their hands to pasta in fun Slow Food workshops.
And finally, the true wonder that makes Gargnano unique: the ancient lemon houses open wide to tell stories of sun, citrus fruits and passion.
Mercato delle Qualità (Market of Qualities)
30 November and 1 December – 7-8 December – 14-15 December – 21-22 December 2024 – 4-5-6 January 2025 (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
Inside the magnificent Cloister of San Francesco (located in Via Roma), there will be a beautiful market with local food products and handicrafts.
Don’t miss the snack from 16:30, with traditional sweets and hot drinks.
Limonaie d’Inverno (winter lemon houses)
30 November and 1 December – 7-8 December – 14-15 December – 21-22 December 2024 – 4-5-6 January 2025 (two tours per day at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. departing from the Cloister of San Francesco – payment required – reservation required)
The Pro Loco Gargnano APS, in collaboration with the social promotion association Terre&Sapori d’alto Garda and the Municipality of Gargnano, is organising the fourth edition of ‘Limonaie d’Inverno’.
The days are dedicated to promoting and enhancing the extraordinary Upper Garda lemon houses and in particular to observing some of them in their winter guise, characterised by a traditional closure made of fir boards and glazed frames to protect the plants in a grandiose greenhouse, assembled in late autumn and dismantled in early spring.
Guided tours will start at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. from the Cloister of San Francesco during the event weekends.
Two routes will be offered to the public:
- visit to the LIMONAIA LA MALORA owned by the Gandossi family, a historic lemon house now a farm (duration about 1h30)
- LIMONAIA TOUR, a tour of private lemon houses exceptionally open for the event located in Crocefisso in Gargnano (duration about 2 hours)
Comfortable shoes are recommended. Final tasting. Reservation compulsory. Minimum 5 participants.

Slow Food Workshops
Sundays 1-8-15-22 December 2024 and 5 January 2025 only (from 10 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 4 pm – reservation required)
Fun SLOW FOOD LABORATORIES, held by Slow Food volunteers, will be dedicated to the youngest children (aged 3 to 12) at the premises in Via Donatori di Sangue 1 – adjacent to the Feltrinelli nursery school in Gargnano.
The workshops last about 20 minutes. Children may attend alone or accompanied by their parents. Booking is compulsory.
