One of the most beautiful towns on Lake Garda is undoubtedly Gardone Riviera. Many people leave a piece of their heart there and are dazzled by its beauty.
Because of the elegance of the palaces and period villas, the views and the atmosphere.
Gardone Riviera became the “pearl of Lake Garda” thanks to an illustrious personage of Austrian origin-Louis Wimmer, who spent a long period of treatment there and fell in love with it. It was he who built the first large hotel there and, when he became mayor of Gardone in 1881, promoted its image throughout Europe.

What to see e to do in a day trip in Gardone Riviera
Also called a “garden city,” Gardone holds wonderful architectural and natural treasures, such as the Vittoriale degli Italiani and the Heller Garden. Let’s discover them together.
The Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera: the home of the poet-soldier.
Situated in a scenic location in Gardone di Sopra, the Vittoriale is a complex of buildings, streets, squares, gardens, and waterways that preserves the home and tomb of Gabriele d’Annunzio. In addition to works of art and memorabilia, there is also an open-air theater, a museum, and a rich library. Every year the Vittoriale is visited by more than 200,000 tourists. It was built between 1921 and 1938 by the famous poet with the help of architect Giancarlo Maroni, as a memorial to d’Annunzio’s life and the exploits of the Italians during World War I.Fun fact: In the poet’s intentions – written in a letter to his wife – the Garda sojourn was to last only a few weeks, to complete the writing of his last novel, while today it is known that the Vittoriale was his last home until his death.

Gardone Riviera, the garden city that combines art and nature.
The natural protection of the hill behind Gardone allows for a particular microclimate which over the years has transformed the city into a “botanical garden”, where the typical vegetation of Garda alternates with Central European, Mediterranean and sub-tropical.
But Gardone is also called the “garden city” due to the splendid gardens that connect Gardone di Sotto and Gardone di Sopra. We are talking about the Heller Garden, also known as the Gardens of Dr. Hruska.
A heavenly place full of magic and sensuality, where you can admire a floral collection with a continental character, in which Africa, South America, Canada, Asia, Europe and Australia are woven into each other. In its 10,000 square meters, in fact, there are botanical species from all over the world.
This incredible variety marries with the artificial structures created in the garden and is enriched by contemporary sculptures and surprising scenographic effects. A unique opportunity, therefore, to make an unusual journey in a world that unites nature and art with a love of landscape.
