The hidden waterfalls of Lake Garda.
There is little to do, the waterfalls fascinate. A roar that fills our ears and hearts with one of the most beautiful noises that exist in nature: that of water.
Below you will find the list of lesser known waterfalls that you can visit between Lake Garda and its hinterland.
Gorg D’Abiss waterfall and Forte Ampola waterfall.
Arrive in the town of Tiarno di Sotto (TN), where you will find signs for the Gorg d’Abiss. The path to reach the waterfall is very simple and can also be covered by children (it takes about 15 minutes).
Continuing along the road that leads from Lake Ampola to Storo (TN), you will meet the Ampola Waterfall on the Palvico stream. The waterfall is visible directly from the street and you can park in a large space a few steps away.
In the hot season, you can’t avoid taking a dip!
Zambel del Rio Cavallo waterfalls.
From the A22 motorway, take the Rovereto Nord exit, enter Calliano, then head towards Folgaria. After a few hundred meters, on the right, before a bend, you will find a small parking lot, with an area equipped for picnics. Park (the parking is free) and follow the sound of the waterfalls, which are about ten minutes’ walk away, taking the nature trail on the right, after the hairpin bend. The descent is simple, suitable for everyone and will lead to these beautiful waterfalls which in the summer months also become an alternative beach because bathing is allowed and there is a place to spread out towels and sunbathe in the cool. The Rio Cavallo waterfalls are artificial and are also called “del Zambel”, due to the artifact consisting of stone blocks, which allowed the waters of the stream to be channeled, between Folgaria and Calliano, until it flows into the Adige. This construction was used to produce mechanical energy, for medieval mills and sawmills, as well as for agricultural purposes.
Wanting to lengthen the walk, the path continues to the beautiful site of Castel Beseno.
Ponale waterfall.
The peculiarity of this waterfall is its location. In fact, the Ponale waterfall (Riva del Garda – TN) can only be reached by lake (with sup, kayak or similar …).
Leaving Riva behind, we continue towards the rocky wall of Rocchetta, reaching the old port of Ponale, once an important point of exchange and communication between the Ledro valley and the Garda area.
Hidden in a ravine is the Ponale waterfall, one of the wildest and most evocative places you can find!
Sopino waterfall.
After passing through the town center of Limone sul Garda (BS), you will find signs for the Sopino Waterfall.
The path is uphill but easy. You will notice the majestic waterfall that makes a nice jump of 15 meters.
Campione del Garda waterfall.
Once you arrive in the square of Campione del Garda (BS) you cross a bridge and from there the path starts to see this spectacular waterfall (with a short walk).
There is also a ladder to go down and take a bath or simply see and photograph it up close. Really scenic!
Tignale waterfall – Aer.
This place can be reached starting from Piovere, a fraction of Tignale (BS). Park and follow the path n ° 265 which in about 25 minutes will lead you to this wonderful waterfall which also forms a small lake.
Paradiso waterfall (Ome).
It starts from the car park, next to the church of San Lorenzo, in the Ome valley (BS).
After the first 200 meters the road becomes a dirt road. Following the Gandovere stream you will find a picnic area and shortly thereafter you will arrive at the beautiful Paradise Waterfall.
You will not resist the play of light that enters from above without taking pictures!
Molina waterfalls.
You will find these waterfalls within the homonymous Molina Waterfalls Park (VR). A path follows the stream of a creek between beautiful views and water that is nebulized in the falls.
The most spectacular attraction is a swing about 10 meters high that allows you to swing near a waterfall and get your feet wet. Another attraction is a small cableway that allows you to cross the stream. A nice, fun route that is also suitable for children.
Vajo Borago.
Starting from Avesa, a beautiful hamlet a few kilometers from the center of Verona, you will enter a magical and wild place: the Vajo Borago, a gorge carved by the force of the water with imposing vertical walls. It starts from the European path n. 5.
A short but exciting metal staircase will allow you to “climb” the waterfall.
